Chapter Officers

Sydney Northway

Hi! My name is Sydney Northway and I am currently Alpha Xi Deltas President. I am a junior at Iowa and I am currently in nursing school. Between AXID and nursing school I am pretty busy, but in my free time, I love to read, hang with my friends, and play with my puppy, Winnie! I am so grateful for all that Alpha Xi Delta has given me. It has provided me with lifelong friends, leadership opportunities, and a second home. Being President has furthered my love for the sorority and the women in it! I cannot wait for what the rest of this year has in store for the Sigma chapter! TFJ!!

My name is Beca Gengler and I’m from Sergeant Bluff, IA! I’m studying Interdepartmental Studies on the Health Science Track with hopes of attending Pharmacy School. I am very excited to be this year’s Membership Vice President! As MVP, I get to coordinate, plan, and oversee all recruitment programs, including fall Formal Recruitment and fall & spring Continuous Open Bidding (COB) events. The second I stepped into the Alpha Xi house for the first time, I immediately felt like I was surrounded by so many incredible and driven women, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Alpha Xi Delta has been a huge part of my college years so far and has already brought me so many amazing friendships, memories, and opportunities!

I am so excited to be this year’s Membership Development Vice President! As the Membership Development Vice President, I focus on new member education, ritual appreciation, academics and the overall Member Development education plan. I also get to broaden the education of chapter members and foster individual development so that each member can attain her highest potential. Alpha Xi Delta has been such an important part of my college experience and has brought me so many memories and friendships with the most amazing women!

Shayna Veytsman

Hey everyone! My name is Shayna Veytsman, I am a sophomore, and my major is business on a pre-law track! I'm from Arlington Heights, IL, that's about 30 mins from downtown Chicago. AXiD is important to me because it's connected me to so many beautiful people and has helped me grow as a person. I'm also so thankful for my opportunity to be the Philanthropy Vice President. I get to learn so many new things and get to do it for a good cause.

Shannon Tomlinson

Panhellenic Delegate

Hi I’m Shannon Tomlinson, I’m the Panhellenic Delegate and in my position I communicate between AXiD and PHC about events and things happening in the PHC community. I am from Bloomington Illinois and I’m a Health and Human Physiology Major on the Pre-Physical Therapy track with a minor in Spanish. AXiD is so important to me because it helps me truly realize my potential with all of the amazing people I have surrounded myself with. Every single person in this chapter has impacted me in some way and has helped me grow as a person, student, and a sister! I truly can’t imagine my college experience without this chapter.

Josilin Johnson

Chapter Life Vice President

Hi, I'm Josilin Johnson, and as Chapter Life Vice President, I oversee most events including sisterhoods, date parties, mixers, etc, and I also serve as our chapter’s risk manager and standards chair. I am a public health major on the pre-pa track and am also involved in UI Dance Marathon, dance club, EMS, and UIBIO. I love AXiD because everyone is so genuine and kind, I was able to find my best friends here and am so grateful that I ended up here!

Ashley Graham

Communication Vice President

Hey! I’m Ashley Graham, the Alpha Xi Delta Sigma chapter Vice President of Communications. As CVP, I implement the external relations program and supervise all the Sisters on my team involved with internal and external chapter relations. I work with the communications team on management of social media, merchandise, newsletters, etc. I also oversee the chapter’s outreach efforts to the campus, parents and alumnae. At the University of Iowa, I am currently finishing up my 3rd year majoring in marketing and minoring in statistics. Outside of the sorority I am involved in UI Dance Club, American Marketing Association, and I work at the University’s ITS department. AXiD is truly my home away from home. I originally am from Illinois and came to Iowa not really knowing anyone. Joining a sorority is one of the best things I could have done. I have met my best friends and feel so welcomed by all my xisters. I know it is cheesy but I know I can go to anyone in the chapter and they will be there for me no matter what it is. There is no greater feeling than walking into a house where you truly feel valued and loved. I cannot begin to explain how happy I am to have found my home here at Alpha Xi Delta.

Meghan Maleri

Finance and Operations Vice President

My name is Meghan Maleri, and I am currently serving as the Finance & Operations Vice President. I'm originally from Highlands Ranch, CO which is why I joined AXiD. Coming from out of state, I was looking for a place I could call home. I found that in AXiD, where every member is welcoming, friendly, and always willing to lend a hand. I'm so glad I went AXiD. My experience at Iowa wouldn't be the same without the amaXing women I have met here. Additionally, I have already gained so much professional development experience and leadership skills serving in my current position. By focusing on financial literacy and open communication regarding finances, I hope to make dues a more transparent aspect of the Greek Life experience. I also couldn't do it without my six member team who help me keep the chapter running smoothly both financially and operationally.
